Op 18 november bereikte de native cryptocurrency van Crypto.com, CRO, een recordhoogte van $ 0,593 nadat het bedrijf de naamgevingsrechten op het Staples Center in Los Angeles had gewonnen. Dinsdagavond kondigde het handelsplatform voor cryptocurrency aan dat het $ 700 miljoen had betaald aan de Anschutz Entertainment Group om Staples Center de komende 20 jaar te hernoemen naar Crypto.com.

Crypto.com kreeg zo banden met de oorspronkelijke sportfranchises van de arena in de stad, zoals de Los Angeles Lakers en Clippers van de National Basketball Association en de Kings-franchise van de National Hockey League. Het publieke bewustzijn van Crypto.com zou met de deal vergroot moeten worden en handelaren werden ertoe aangezet hun biedingen op CRO te verhogen.

Op piekmomenten lijkt CRO tussentijdse uitverkooprisico’s te lopen

Na de marketingdeal van Crypto.com steeg CRO met bijna 27,50% per dag. En de volgende dag steeg het met nog eens 20% om een recordhoogte van $ 0,627 te bereiken. Zo kwam de marktkapitalisatie hiermee in de buurt van $ 13,15 miljard. De opwaartse hausse van het Crypto.com-token bracht het ook dicht boven het opwaarts hellende weerstandsniveau. Dit vormde een breed oplopend kanaalpatroon. Later keerden bears terug om de bovenste trendlijn van het kanaal te bevestigen als weerstand.

Echter, bulls overmeesterden hun pogingen, waardoor de prijs hoger opsteeg. CRO begon zo met koersvorming, wat de verwachting van handelaren benadrukt. Ze gaven namelijk aan dat zijn naam in een populaire sportarena, de acceptatie en prijzen tegelijk zou stimuleren. Toen de relatieve sterkte-index in het overboughtgebied terechtkwam, waren er echter verkooprisico’s.

Na een piek op donderdag vertoonde de CRO hierdoor tekenen van correctie. Hiermee wordt beweerd dat veel handelaren besloten hun winst vast te zetten in de verwachting dat de prijsrally van de CRO niet verder zou duren. De volgende lagere etappe kijkt naar het 20-daagse exponentiële voortschrijdend gemiddelde (20-daagse EMA; de groene golf), in de buurt van $ 0,37. Dit geldt als het volgende neerwaartse doel op basis van de historische prijsacties van de CRO.

Voor CRO-bulls heeft de golf eerder gewerkt als een accumulatiezone na prijsdalingen.

Crypto komt samen met sport

Nu is Crypto.com de negende grootste cryptobeurs ter wereld, opgericht in 2016. Vergeleken met volumes van Binance van $ 31 miljard, de beste crypto-uitwisseling, kwamen de volumes in de afgelopen 24 uur uit op $ 1,82 miljard. Met het Ultimate Fighting Championship, de Franse voetbalclub Paris Saint-Germain en de Philadelphia 76ers van de NBA heeft Cypto.com ook bestaande sponsorovereenkomsten.

Sponsoring tussen cryptobedrijven en sportclubs, zoals de samenwerking van BitMEX en Binance met respectievelijk de Italiaanse Serie A-clubs AC Milan en Lazio, lijken op de deals van Crypto.com. FTX werd ondertussen het officiële crypto-uitwisselingsmerk voor Major League Baseball na een aankondiging dit jaar. De native token van FTX, FTT, is dit jaar met meer dan 750% gestegen. Het bedrijf kocht ook de naamgevingsrechten voor de FTX Arena in Miami Heat.
