Nasdaq.com publiceert een knap artikel met de opvallende, zelfs beetje provocerende titel: ´The Sky Is Not Falling: Why The Bitcoin Price Doesn’t Matter´. Volgende zeer ware woorden worden er o.m. in aangehaald:

“Bear markets are the best time to be alive and in the sector. It’s depressing for those that don’t know what they’re doing, it’s awesome for those that have a longer-term view.” – Simon Dixon

Niet de price hype, niet de price pump, noch de koers-van-de-dag van BTC zijn belangrijk, stelt de auteur. Maar wel het protocol, de intrinsieke waarde, ´the value proposition of bitcoin as hard, non-confiscatable and truly decentralized money is really what matters´. Het zijn de speculanten en korte-termijn beleggers, de daytraders die we zien vertrekken, oordeelt de auteur, en eigenlijk is het net goed van hen verlost te zijn. ´This loss of interest from the speculators is viewed by many as a negative development for Bitcoin, but it is actually a very positive one. What we are seeing now represented in the lower bitcoin price is the value of its actual functional utility and the absence of retail speculation capital that was there before.´ Hear hear! roepen wij dan. Want dat is ook ´to zoom out´ en ´the big picture´, wat uw Cryptonieuwsbrief wel vaker aanhaalt. 

Het artikel gaat verder met ´Yes, bitcoin is down from its all-time high by half, but factoring in the incredible market distortions caused by unprecedented money printing, memestock manipulations and post-COVID-19 interest rates since early 2020, bitcoin still blows anything else out of the water´. Klopt helemaal. Of je vandaag effectief als belegger op verlies of winst staat, hangt ook helemaal af van je instapmoment. Was dat sinds een maand, een jaar of… Misschien zit je wel al in bitcoin sinds pakweg twéé jaar? Want in mei 2020 stond BTC nog aan $8.000 genoteerd. Stel je voor: van $8.000 naar $30.000 in twee jaar?! Ja dán hoef je helemaal niet nerveus te worden van de hevige koersschommelingen van de laatste dagen!
