(ABM-Crypto) De eerste bitcoin futures ETF van ProShares heeft dinsdag na de lancering op de New York Stock Exchange de wind in de rug.
De koers stijgt enkele procenten.
Aanvankelijk was er twijfel of de toezichthouder wel akkoord zou gaan met het product.
Op Twitter meldde de SEC vorige week, op een account dat is gericht op educatie van beleggers, echter al dat “alvorens te investeren in fondsen die bitcoin futures houden, je eerst goed de risico’s en kansen tegen elkaar moet afwegen”.
Een bitcoin future is een contact dat bepaalt dat op een vastgesteld moment de houder verplicht is een bepaalde hoeveelheid bitcoins te kopen of te verkopen tegen een afgesproken prijs.
“Bitcoin is een commodity, en de futurehandel in commodities moet op een gereguleerde marktplaats gebeuren onder toezicht van de CFTC”, aldus de SEC.
